MOM: AAP Central Jersey meeting on Oak Tree Rd, Iselin, NJ on 01/12/14

Attendees: Avenendra, Aman, Mitesh, Vilish, Aniyan, Alan, Kalpana, Suneel, Himanshu, Madan Singh (TV Asia), Jayesh, Deepak, Sameer, Eesha, Anil.
Time/venue: Jan 12, 2014 4 PM on Oak Tree Rd, Iselin, NJ, USA.

Though temperature was in 40s, AAP NJ volunteers had a meet and greet on the Indian Mkt on Oak Tree Rd. This is our usual summer-time place for last 9 months to spread awareness about AAP and talk to desi people who come for shopping in the area. We distributed flyers, talked to crowd.

AAP NJ volunteers also gave interviews to TV Asia crew who was covering the area. All voiced the need for a developed corruption free India and how NRI volunteers can make difference in India in various areas (donations, awareness, phone campaigns, Adopt a Constituency programs, IT, analytics, etc.)

Few things:
1. Planning for Jan 26 India Republic day event in progress. We will have phone conferences in next 3-4 days to plan details.
2. Suresh bhai gave an idea to hold Janata Ka Darbar: a discussion forum on topics related to politics, governance and democracy in India and how we can make it better. Twice a month we will have moderated discussion on pre-selected topics. Video recordings will be put online. At times we can invite special guest for panel discussions. Ref: AAP California chapter has been good in holding panel discussions.
3. Aniyan bhai updated that Maliyali community (nationawide) is mobilizing a team to support AAP in various areas (in US and India). We will have conference calls to find out ways how we can work together.

4. AAP NJ structure: we are building a structure so that we can build teams under point-of-contacts for each tasks (Volunteer Engagement, Media, Events, Fund raising, Outreach, etc.). This way we can define requirements, deadlines and motivate each other to get engaged in productive work.
